Adding inspirational tags to the back of your rocks is a great way to inspire and encourage the finder. And you can also share information about your rock group or website on the back of your rocks with tags.
You can write on the back with a Paint Pen or Permanent Marker or glue a tag to the back.
USING PEN PENS OR PERMANENT MARKERS
However if you do paint the back of the rock, you also need to seal the back of your rock. If you use a Paint pen or permanent marker to write on the back, there is one extra step. After you write on it with the marker, let it dry completely. Then apply one coat of "White School Glue" OR "Mod Podge" over the writing with a foam brush or regular brush. This will protect the paint pen or marker from the sealant so the pen/marker will not smear or run. Let the glue/Mod Podge coat dry completely, at least one hour, then seal as usual.
ADDING A LABEL OR TAG
Adding tags are great to share an inspirational quote, a Scripture or share information about your rock group or website.
1. Place a coat of Mod Podge OR White School glue down on the back of the rock.
2. Then place a coat of Mod Podge/Glue down on the back of the tag/label.
3. Press the tag/label down and make sure it's firmly in place and all the wrinkles are smoothed out.
4. Then place a coat of Mod Podge / Glue over the entire top of the tag/label using a paint brush or foam brush. Let the coat dry completely. Usually about 15-20 minutes.
5. Then place a second coat of Mod Podge / Glue over the entire top of the tag / label. Let it completely dry before sealing. Seal like usual.
HOW TO GET TAGS / LABELS
You can print your own labels at home if you have a computer and printer. You can print them on labels or print them out on regular computer paper. If you print on regular computer paper you can then just cut out the tags and glue/Mod Podge them on your rocks.
